ASDA’s Foodbank Boost

NEWS

ASDA continues to hand out free products, but this time in a boost for Mid Cheshire Foodbank. They have continued to donate in an attempt to help those in need with products that are in high demand. With the products including toothbrushes, toothpaste and toiletries, the Northwich-based food bank has been ever grateful, especially as their aim is to combat poverty across the UK.

It is reported that in Mid Cheshire, more than 3000 people were claiming the emergency food supplies, showing a real demand and problem. Mid Cheshire Foodbank is part of a larger charity or network of food banks which is run and supported by the Trussell Trust. Trussell Trust, like Mid Cheshire Foodbank, aim to beat poverty and hunger across the UK, running over 400 foodbanks.

The general store manager at ASDA’s Barons Quay commented on the matter and said: “We want our store to be at the very heart of the local community, and donating to the food bank has been a great opportunity for us to give back in a meaningful way.”

The project co-ordinator of the Mid Cheshire Foodbank was over the moon with the donation and said: “It’s thanks to kind donations that we are able to continue providing this vital service.”

Trussell Trust has recently launched a campaign in a bid to get people to save 40p per day for 40 days. The aim is to get as many people to raise the £16, in which Trussell Trust will gift aid £4, taking the total to £20 for each person. This is a Lent based campaign that will help support a local family this Easter.
